Having retired from full-time teaching after almost 40 years of service, the role of a SEND tutor has enabled me to continue to practise and develop my teaching skills while working to a more flexible timetable. The role can be challenging, but is ultimately rewarding as the child or student begin to reconnect with education and rediscover their love for learning. Every student offers their own unique set of challenges and needs a bespoke curriculum which relies on the flexibility of the tutor to deliver it. Tutors are very well supported and have access to CPD which enable tutors to stay up to date and improve their practise.

The Level Two training consists of two days of interactive and practical sessions, totalling 12 hours, divided into eight modules. In-house training is designed to be customised according to the participants’ specific requirements. Prior to the training, we will have a detailed discussion to understand your needs and create a curriculum tailored to your service setting.
It will prioritise the significance of positive relationships as the cornerstone of effective behaviour management, with physical techniques being just one aspect of a comprehensive approach.
Upon completion of the training, participants will receive a Course Workbook and a certificate as recognition of their achievement. The certification for this course remains valid for 24 months.
This course is organised into 8 modules:
Module 1 – Background to Team Teach
Module 2 – The Legal Framework
Module 3 – Understanding Aggression
Module 4 – How Feelings Drive Behaviours
Module 5 – De-escalation and De-fusion
Module 6 – Personal Safety
Module 7 – Positive Handling – including guiding, escorting and holding in standing, sitting and kneeling positions safely*
Module 8 – Repair, Reflection and Review
