As a Youth Mentor, you’ll do more than just support students – you’ll inspire, guide, and empower them to overcome barriers and believe in their potential. Whether working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) or supporting those with SEMH difficulties, your role is central to fostering growth and confidence through compassion and creativity.

Key Responsibilities of an Outreach Youth Mentor

Offer Targeted Pastoral Support
Build trusting relationships that help students succeed socially, emotionally, and academically.

Lead Engaging Activities
Use creativity and energy to design interactive sessions – think sports, music, drama, and art that connect and inspire.

Foster a Positive Environment
Help students regulate emotions, navigate challenges, and develop the tools to behave positively in and outside of class.

Support Students with SEN
Adjust your approach based on individual needs, collaborating with school staff and other professionals where needed.

Promote Positive Behaviour
Use Team Teach strategies to de-escalate situations and model resilience, compassion, and calm leadership.
What We Offer You

Comprehensive Training & Growth
Access Level 2 Team Teach Training (worth £1,500) and ongoing CPD to strengthen your confidence and skills in behaviour support and inclusion.

Competitive Pay
Daily rates between £109.50 – £120, depending on experience and placement.

Mileage Reimbursement
Receive £0.45 per mile for travel to outreach and community placements.

Permanent Pathways
Opportunities for permanent school roles paying up to £32,000 per year, supported through Lexia’s strong partnerships.
