Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one mentoring and support to students with PMLD, tailoring interventions to their specific needs and abilities
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment, promoting students’ social and emotional development
- Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to create personalised learning plans and adapt curriculum materials to meet individual students’ requirements
- Implement PMLD-specific strategies and techniques, such as sensory integration, communication systems, and assistive technology, to facilitate students’ access to learning
- Support students in developing essential life skills, promoting their independence and self-confidence
- Build strong relationships with students, their families, and the wider school community, ensuring effective communication and collaboration
- Monitor and track students’ progress, providing regular feedback and reporting to the relevant stakeholders
- Attend training and professional development sessions to enhance your knowledge of PMLD support strategies and stay up-to-date with best practices in the field
Qualifications and Skills:
- Previous experience working with individuals with PMLD is essential
- A caring and compassionate nature, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Knowledge of PMLD-specific strategies, interventions, and assistive technology
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, as well as independently
- Strong organisational and time management skills
