Lexia Education Services is seeking an experienced and passionate Alternative Learning Provision Mentor to join our team. As a mentor, you will be responsible for providing one-on-one support and guidance to young people who are struggling to succeed in mainstream education. You will work in partnership with the school, other professionals and the young people’s families to support positive outcomes for each student.

The ideal candidate will have experience working in alternative education settings with young people with SEMH, SLD, PMLD, ADHD, and ASC. You will be empathetic, caring, and resilient with a proven track record of supporting young people who face challenges in their education. You should be comfortable working independently, as well as part of a wider team.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one mentoring support to young people in Alternative Learning Provision
  • Create and deliver bespoke support plans for each student
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with students, their families, and other professionals
  • Work collaboratively with the school team to support the students’ overall education and wellbeing
  • Maintain accurate records and write reports on student progress
  • Attend meetings with the school team and other professionals as required

Requirements:

  • Experience working with young people with SEMH, SLD, PMLD, ADHD, and ASC in alternative education provision
  • A genuine desire to make a positive difference to the lives of young people
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships
  • A strong sense of resilience and the ability to work well under pressure
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviour
  • An understanding of safeguarding principles and best practice
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a wider team
  • Willingness to undergo a DBS check and provide professional references

Free Team Teach positive behaviour management, de-escalation and physical intervention training will be provided for successful applicants.
