As a Youth Mentoring Support Worker, you will work closely with students who have social, emotional, and mental health needs within our SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) school. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Providing one-on-one mentoring and support to students, building positive and trusting relationships.
  • Assisting students in developing social and emotional skills, promoting their well-being and resilience.
  • Collaborating with teachers and other professionals to implement individualised intervention plans.
  • Supporting students in their academic progress, helping them overcome barriers to learning.
  • Encouraging positive behaviours and promoting a safe and inclusive learning environment.
  • Engaging students in extracurricular activities and promoting their personal development.

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Previous experience working with young people who have social, emotional, and mental health needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish rapport with students.
  • Empathy, patience, and the ability to effectively manage challenging behaviours.
  • A commitment to promoting inclusivity, diversity, and equality in education.
  • Knowledge of relevant safeguarding procedures and legislation.

A relevant qualification in youth work, psychology, or a related field is desirable but not essential. Training and ongoing professional development opportunities will be provided to support your role as a Youth Mentoring Support Worker.
