Job Summary:

As a Tutor for Young People with ADHD, you will play a vital role in providing personalised academic support, study skills, and mentoring to students with ADHD. Your expertise and understanding of the unique challenges associated with ADHD will enable you to create a supportive and engaging learning environment. By implementing effective strategies, fostering a positive rapport, and adapting teaching methods, you will help students with ADHD overcome obstacles, improve their focus, and develop the necessary skills to excel academically.


  • Provide one-on-one tutoring and academic support to young people with ADHD in various subjects, adapting teaching methods to meet their individual learning needs.
  • Develop personalised learning plans that incorporate effective study strategies and techniques for students with ADHD.
  • Assist students in improving their organisational skills, time management, and executive functioning abilities.
  • Foster a positive and supportive learning environment that promotes engagement, self-confidence, and motivation.
  • Collaborate with parents/guardians, teachers, and other professionals to ensure a coordinated approach in supporting the student’s academic progress.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing feedback and adapting instructional methods as needed.
  • Utilise creative teaching techniques and resources to cater to diverse learning styles and keep students engaged.
  • Help students develop effective self-advocacy skills and strategies to manage their ADHD symptoms in an educational setting.
  • Offer guidance and mentorship to students, addressing their emotional and social needs in addition to their academic development.
  • Stay informed about the latest research and best practices in ADHD management and incorporate them into your teaching approach.
  • Maintain accurate records of tutoring sessions, student progress, and communication with parents/guardians.
  • Adhere to safeguarding procedures, ensuring the well-being and safety of students at all times.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Previous experience working as a tutor or teacher, preferably with a focus on supporting young people with ADHD.
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of ADHD, its impact on learning, and evidence-based strategies for managing ADHD symptoms in an educational context.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to establish a positive rapport with students, parents/guardians, and educational professionals.
  • Ability to create a structured and organized learning environment while incorporating flexibility and adaptability to meet individual student needs.
  • Excellent communication and listening skills to effectively communicate with students and address their academic challenges and emotional well-being.
  • Patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach to support students with ADHD in overcoming their difficulties and fostering a growth mindset.
  • Reliable, punctual, and professional in your work ethic, demonstrating a commitment to student success and academic progress.
  • Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) clearance or willingness to obtain one.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings or weekends, to accommodate students’ schedules.
