As a Specialist Tutor, you will play a crucial role in helping children overcome their social, emotional, and mental health challenges, fostering their well-being and academic progress. You will work closely with students, parents, and other professionals to create a nurturing and supportive learning environment, tailored to meet the unique needs of each child.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialised one-on-one tutoring to children with social, emotional, and mental health needs
  • Develop and implement individualised learning plans, incorporating strategies to address emotional and behavioural difficulties
  • Deliver engaging and interactive lessons that promote emotional regulation, social skills, and academic growth
  • Use a variety of teaching methods and resources to accommodate different learning styles and abilities
  • Assess student progress regularly, identify areas for improvement, and adapt teaching approaches accordingly
  • Support students in developing coping strategies, self-esteem, and resilience
  • Collaborate with parents, caregivers, and educational professionals to ensure a consistent and holistic approach to support
  • Implement evidence-based interventions and strategies to enhance emotional well-being and social functioning
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance, progress, and intervention strategies.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Previous experience working as a Specialist Tutor or in a similar role, preferably with children with social, emotional, and mental health needs
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of social, emotional, and mental health difficulties in children
  • Familiarity with relevant teaching methods, interventions, and resources for supporting children with social, emotional, and mental health needs
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to establish rapport with students, parents, and other professionals
  • Empathy, patience, and the ability to create a safe and supportive learning environment
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the individual needs and learning styles of each student
  • A commitment to ongoing professional development and staying updated with current research and practices in the field of SEN.
