As an SEN Tutor, you will play a vital role in supporting children with communication and interaction difficulties, empowering them to overcome challenges and achieve their full potential. You will work closely with students, parents, and other professionals to develop individualised learning plans and deliver targeted interventions to address their specific needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one tutoring and small group sessions to children with communication and interaction difficulties
  • Develop and implement individualised learning plans, tailored to meet the unique needs and abilities of each student
  • Deliver engaging and interactive lessons that promote communication, social interaction, and academic progress
  • Use a variety of teaching strategies and resources to accommodate different learning styles and abilities
  • Assess student progress, identify areas for improvement, and adapt teaching approaches accordingly
  • Support students in developing effective communication skills, including speech, language, and non-verbal communication
  • Implement evidence-based interventions and strategies to enhance social interaction and peer relationships
  • Collaborate with parents, caregivers, and educational professionals to ensure consistent support and progress monitoring
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance, progress, and intervention strategies.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Previous experience working as an SEN Tutor or in a similar role, preferably with children with communication and interaction difficulties
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of communication disorders, including speech and language difficulties
  • Familiarity with relevant teaching methods, interventions, and resources for supporting children with communication and interaction difficulties
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to establish rapport with students, parents, and other professionals
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the individual needs and learning styles of each student
  • A commitment to ongoing professional development and staying updated with current research and practices in the field of SEN.
