Lexia Education Services is seeking a dedicated Personal Development Tutor to join our team in Frome, Somerset. We are a leading provider of alternative education, committed to empowering young people in their personal growth and development. In this role, you will work closely with students, providing tailored support and guidance to help them enhance their personal skills, self-esteem, and overall well-being.


  • Deliver one-on-one and group tutoring sessions to young people, focusing on personal development topics such as self-confidence, resilience, communication, and goal setting.
  • Create and implement personalized learning plans based on the individual needs and goals of each student.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment, encouraging students to explore their strengths, talents, and interests.
  • Provide guidance and support in helping students develop essential life skills, such as decision-making, problem-solving, and self-reflection.
  • Collaborate with students to set achievable goals and milestones, monitoring their progress and providing constructive feedback.
  • Utilise a variety of teaching methods and resources to engage students and enhance their learning experience.
  • Assist students in developing effective study habits, time management skills, and organisational strategies.
  • Promote positive attitudes and healthy relationships, addressing any behavioural or emotional challenges that may arise.
  • Work closely with parents and caregivers, providing regular updates on the progress and development of their child.
  • Collaborate with other professionals, such as teachers, counsellors, and support staff, to ensure a holistic approach to student support.
  • Stay informed about current educational trends, best practices, and resources related to personal development and student success.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to enhance your knowledge and skills as a personal development tutor.


  • Previous experience working with young people in an educational, mentoring, or coaching capacity.
  • Strong understanding of personal development concepts and techniques, with the ability to apply them effectively to support young people.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with and motivate students.
  • Empathy, patience, and the ability to create a safe and supportive learning environment for young people.
  • A passion for helping young people explore their potential, set goals, and develop essential life skills.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to tailor tutoring approaches based on the unique needs and learning styles of each student.
  • Knowledge of relevant resources and tools for personal development, resilience, and self-esteem building.
  • Relevant qualifications or certifications in education, youth work, counselling, or related fields are desirable.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in working with students and their families.
