Lexia Education Services is seeking a dedicated and experienced Inclusive Education Tutor to join our team in Yeovil, Somerset. As an organisation committed to providing high-quality educational support, we aim to empower children with diverse needs and promote inclusive learning environments. In this role, you will work closely with children facing various challenges, ensuring they receive the necessary support and guidance to thrive academically and socially.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one tutoring sessions to children with diverse needs, such as those with learning disabilities, developmental delays, or other educational challenges.
  • Develop individualised learning plans based on each child’s unique strengths, needs, and learning styles.
  • Implement evidence-based teaching strategies and instructional techniques to support children’s academic progress.
  • Adapt teaching materials and resources to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment, promoting acceptance, empathy, and respect among students.
  • Utilise a variety of teaching methods, including multisensory approaches, to facilitate learning and engagement.
  • Support children in developing essential academic skills, including reading, writing, math, and problem-solving.
  • Assist children in improving their social and emotional skills, promoting self-confidence and positive peer interactions.
  • Collaborate with parents, teachers, and other professionals to ensure a coordinated and holistic approach to each child’s education.
  • Provide ongoing feedback and progress reports to parents and relevant stakeholders.
  • Stay informed about current research, best practices, and developments in inclusive education and special needs support.
  • Attend relevant professional development opportunities to enhance your knowledge and skills in inclusive education.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children with diverse needs in an educational or tutoring setting.
  • Sound understanding of various learning disabilities, developmental delays, and other challenges that children may face.
  • Knowledge of inclusive education principles and evidence-based instructional strategies.
  • Ability to assess children’s strengths, challenges, and learning styles to tailor instruction effectively.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with children, parents, and professionals.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for inclusive education.
  • Familiarity with assistive technologies and resources to support children with diverse needs.
  • Relevant qualifications or certifications in education, special education, or inclusive education are desirable.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in working with children and their families.
