Job Summary:

As a Behaviour Support Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with ADHD to develop positive behaviours, manage their challenges, and thrive academically and socially. Your responsibilities will include implementing individual behaviour support plans, collaborating with teachers and parents, and providing guidance and training to the school community. Through your expertise and dedication, you will contribute to creating an inclusive and supportive environment that maximises the potential of students with ADHD.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individual behaviour support plans for students with ADHD, in collaboration with teachers, parents, and external professionals.
  • Provide direct support and guidance to students with ADHD, focusing on self-regulation, social skills, and academic success.
  • Monitor and assess students’ behaviour and progress, collecting data and providing feedback to the teaching team and relevant stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with teachers to implement evidence-based strategies and interventions to address behavioural challenges and promote positive outcomes for students.
  • Conduct training sessions for teachers, parents, and other staff members to increase understanding and awareness of ADHD and effective behaviour support strategies.
  • Liaise with external agencies, such as educational psychologists and therapists, to access additional support and resources for students with ADHD.
  • Create and maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment that supports the specific needs of students with ADHD.
  • Develop and implement strategies to support students during transitions, such as from primary to secondary school or between different educational settings.
  • Stay up-to-date with research, best practices, and developments in the field of ADHD and behaviour support.
  • Advocate for students with ADHD, ensuring their needs are understood and supported within the school community.
  • Adhere to safeguarding procedures and promote the welfare and well-being of all students.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Relevant qualifications or extensive experience in behaviour support, ADHD, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of ADHD and its impact on learning, behaviour, and social interactions.
  • Experience working with students with ADHD or other neurodevelopmental conditions.
  • Familiarity with evidence-based behaviour support strategies and interventions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with students, parents, teachers, and external professionals.
  • Ability to analyse behavioural data and use it to inform interventions and support plans.
  • Organisational skills to manage multiple responsibilities and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Empathy, patience, and a genuine passion for supporting students with ADHD.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the unique needs of individual students and respond to their changing requirements.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and policies related to special educational needs and ADHD.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students.
