Job Summary:

As a Behaviour Support Assistant (ADHD), you will play a crucial role in providing targeted behaviour management interventions and support to students with ADHD. You will work closely with individuals, their families, and educational professionals to create and implement effective strategies that promote positive behaviour, enhance social-emotional skills, and improve academic engagement.   • Collaborate with teachers, parents/guardians, and other professionals to identify and assess the behavioural needs of students with ADHD.
  • Develop individualised behaviour support plans based on comprehensive assessments, considering the unique strengths and challenges of each student.
  • Implement evidence-based strategies and interventions to address behavioural difficulties associated with ADHD, promoting self-regulation and positive social interactions.
  • Provide direct support and guidance to students, teaching them skills for self-management, emotional regulation, and problem-solving.
  • Conduct regular observations and assessments to monitor student progress and adjust intervention strategies as needed.
  • Deliver training and workshops to teachers, parents/guardians, and other stakeholders to enhance their understanding of ADHD and implement consistent support strategies.
  • Collaboratively work with educational staff to implement behaviour support plans and promote a positive classroom climate that fosters inclusivity and respect.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of student progress, behaviour incidents, and interventions provided.
  • Stay informed about the latest research, developments, and best practices in ADHD management and behavioural interventions.
  • Act as a resource for colleagues, sharing knowledge and strategies to support students with ADHD effectively.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, building trust, and rapport, and providing mentorship when needed.
  • Adhere to safeguarding policies and procedures to ensure the well-being and safety of students at all times.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Relevant experience working as a Behaviour Support Assistant, preferably with a focus on supporting students with ADHD.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of ADHD, its impact on behaviour, and evidence-based interventions to support individuals with ADHD.
  • Familiarity with behaviour management techniques, positive reinforcement strategies, and social-emotional skill development.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with students, parents/guardians, and educational professionals.
  • Patience, empathy, and a compassionate approach to supporting students with ADHD and their families.
  • Ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations and effectively de-escalate behavioural issues.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team and adapt interventions to suit individual student needs.
  • Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) clearance or willingness to obtain one.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings or weekends, to accommodate students’ needs.
