If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as an ASC Learning Support Assistant in Bristol.

As an ASC Learning Support Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with ASC, promoting their academic, social, and emotional development. You will work closely with teachers, parents, and other professionals to ensure the students receive the necessary support to thrive in their educational journey.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with ASC, implementing individualised learning plans and strategies
  • Support students in accessing the curriculum, adapting materials and resources to meet their specific needs
  • Assist with the development and implementation of visual supports and communication systems to enhance understanding and engagement
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment, promoting social interaction and peer relationships
  • Collaborate with teachers and educational professionals to assess student progress, set goals, and implement targeted interventions
  • Assist in the development of social skills and self-regulation strategies, promoting independence and self-confidence
  • Support students during transitions and sensory regulation activities, ensuring a calm and supportive environment
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of student progress, behaviour incidents, and support strategies
  • Collaborate with parents and caregivers, providing regular updates on student progress and strategies for reinforcement at home.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Previous experience working as a Learning Support Assistant or in a similar role, preferably with students with ASC
  • Knowledge and understanding of Autism Spectrum Condition and its impact on learning and behaviour
  • Familiarity with evidence-based strategies and interventions for supporting students with ASC
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to establish rapport with students, teachers, and parents
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to adapt teaching approaches to meet individual student needs
  • Knowledge of sensory regulation techniques and strategies
  • A commitment to ongoing professional development and staying up-to-date with current research and practices related to ASC.
